When a group is looking for volunteers to help with a building project for Southern Baptists, there are some steps that will help make the project and volunteer management more efficient. Listed below are some general guidelines to keep in mind when considering a building project:
Building - Phase I
1. Architectural Plans
2. Permit approval by city or county
3. Clear land
4. Install underground water lines, sewer lines, electrical lines, gas lines, cable lines, etc.
5. Lay cement foundation
6. City and/or county inspection
Building - Phase II
1. Framing (wood or steel)
2. Rough electrical
3. Rough plumbing
4. Flooring
5. Roofing (shingles, tiles, or metal)
6. Exterior walls (brick, stucco, hardy plank, vinyl)
7. Exterior windows and doors.
8. City and/or county inspection
Building - Phase III
1. H.V. A/C installed
2. Insulation
3. Drywall
4. Drywall finish
5. Painting
6. City and/or county inspection
Building - Phase IV
1. Finish carpentry
2. Finish plumbing
3. Cabinetry
4. Finish electrical
5. Tile work
6. Paint - touch up
7. Install carpet
8. Final inspection by city and/or county
Volunteer Team On-Site Suggestions
1. For RV's are needed sewer and water hook-ups
2. Local campsites may qualifiy
3. Local church or school with showers
4. Place to prepare meals, optional
5. Local volunteers may provide meals
